On August 1st, our crew was not lucky enough to win a Gold pair of the Quest Love air force ones, but on August 5th was our second chance to get a gold pair at Philadelphia.
I get an instant message from a friend of mine, Chris L, around 6 in the afternoon.
-Paul, you want to go to Philadelphia to get another pair of these Quest Loves?
"You serious? umm, who else is going?"
-So far, Eddy and I... we need like 2 other people.
"Alright, give me a minute"
* I call Jonas and Chris B and asked them if they wanted to go to Philadelphia with Eddy and Chris L *
"Yea man... lets do this"
-So Paul, what did Chris and Jonas say?
"They said they are down to go... pick us up in an two hours"
Eddy and Jonas picked me up from my house, from my house to Chris B's house, from Chris B's to the city to pick up Chris L.
The ride to Philadelphia was about 2 hours long only because my boy Eddy was going 90 mph the whole drive there. (lol) The road trip was not too difficult because we were all anxious to get to Philly. I was caught up by how clear and beautiful the scenery was, while the others danced in the car.(no homo)
We arrived at Ubiq at around 8:00 p.m and we were all hyped when we arrived to Philly, not only because it was our first time at Ubiq, but also because it was a chance to meet a lot of new people.
After just talking to people on the line, we met up with the first person on the line, who by the way was injured. Eddy and Eddy Sr. are really cool people. I did see them out in a few NYC's campouts such as, what the dunks and some Nort Recon events.
That night and also the night before, Quest Love came through, just like at NYC, with food and showed some love to his fans around 4:00 A. M. Sadly my team and I were asleep in the car, but non-the less... "THANK YOU QUEST!!!"
A few minutes after receiving donuts from Quest Love the news wanted to interview me (paulie-snooze) and show, the live viewers, the sneakers everyone was camping out for. It felt kind of cool to be on the news.
The camp outs here are a little different here from New York, but the most annoying difference was the shorter road calls. This annoyed me because we could not really see the sites that Philly had to offer. We didn't get to see no "Liberty Bell" or the "Independence Hall", but we did see this building and hang out with this awesome drunk chick.
The next morning we decided to check out Ubiq and surprisingly, it's a nice store. The first thing i said to myself was "it's going to be one of those small, same as every other, boutique" but man was I wrong. First thing is first, Ubiq is NOT small, it has 3 floors. First floor has sneakers/clothing that Ubiq sells. The second floor is divided into two sections, one side is only dedicated to Stussy brand and the other side is dedicated to the Van brand. The third floor is their stock room.... how much extra clothes do they have that they need that extra one whole floor for their stock room... crazy.
While we were at the van's section of Ubiq, we saw a HUGE pair of vans..... size 66... yea thats right, a 66.
The store, undoubtedly, is a cool store, but what about the employees at the store?
Pictures say a thousand words.
If you guys are slow.... I am trying to say they are cool peoples.
This is Kyle on the right and they say "it's time for a new pair" *no homo*
Since we were at Philadelphia and we did not know when we were going to come back, we had to take this chance to interview Ubiq.
Thanks for the opportunity.
An hour before the release, Quest Love came through the line and showed some love. This was our second chance to interview Quest Love.
Busy man.. so we had to keep it short.
When Quest Love went back inside to Ubiq, it was time to line up and get ready for the release of the Quest Love air force one. Unlike New York, there was no pushing, shoving, or any sorts of fights, it was just a real calm release. You could almost feel how anxious they were.
Couple people came to dress to impress. (chris and I included)
Me(paulie-snooze): rocking the ones released from Alife NYC
Chris: Lebron 3 lows Sprite edition Samples.
6:30 p.m. 10 people at a time. It took awhile but it was finally our turn to get our pairs. Done many camp outs, but still can't get over the butterflys I get before I buy the sneakers.
They wanted my info.. why?
The camp out was good and having a gold pair was a good feeling, but it was a long way back home so we really could not stay for the after party.
Back home and I had to take this picture. (1 pair from Alife.. and the rest at Ubiq)
Some additional info:
-The first 5 people on the Philadelphia line did not get the free pair, but the last 5 was on the house. So I guess being late on a camp out sometime is a good thing.
-the first 3 gold pairs were revealed ... in a row.
-The first man on line got a gold pair.
Special thanks/shout outs:
Ubiq (thanks a lot for everything, you guys showed mad love towards me and the others)
Maze
Quest Love
last but not least Philadelphia.
